About Anne at CoreBalance

I have a Bachelor of Education, with a major in Physical Education & Health and Diploma in Teaching.  My experience spans from teaching Physical Education and Health in the NZ and UK education system from Primary through to University level and also coaching top college sport. As well as teaching & management positions in schools, I owned a professional development business for teachers. While I had my two boys, Oliver & George, I stayed in the education system for a number of years in part time teaching and management roles in PE and Health; but also as an educator for students who were too unwell to be at school. I have always been passionate about educating children and adults  and helping them to live an active, healthy and fulfilling life. 

 

I always loved running, the outdoors, playing sport & developed an interest in triathlons later on, but through various injuries and niggles, I found Pilates; and it totally made sense. It has allowed me to keep doing all that I love. I feel stronger within, more balanced and upright! 

 

I established CoreBalance Pilates studio in 2014 and now teach Functional breathing; which has been an interest of mine for over 10 years. I hold an Advanced Instructors Certificate in the Oxygen Advantage method, taught by world renowned breathing specialist, Patrick McKewon. 

 

In this fast-paced world, I has delved into mindfulness meditation and other relaxation techniques and have incorporated these into my teaching. For me personally, functional breathing has given me greater awareness of how my whole nervous system is functioning; achieving more balance between my sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system. It helps to ground me, find more clarity, has strengthened my lung and respiratory system and helps to calm my gut inflammation; & the science backs up how this happens!

I want to help people, young and old, feel better and I'm passionate about sharing my knowledge with you. Humans are capable of so much when our systems are working well and we're feeling balanced. Both Pilates and learning to breathe well has been so incredibly helpful for myself and clients, some of whom have been with me from the beginning.

 

We can often live oblivious to how good we can feel.  It’s simply making a decision to make changes and feel these for yourself; and I am committed to being with you on that journey.
