CoreBalance Pilates Sessions

Our body is the one home you will live in your whole life, let's look after it!  Pilates helps to reconnect our whole body to function well and hold ourselves upright. Pilates helps:

  • Improve core strength, from your diaphragm to your pelvic floor and everything in between.

  • Improve your posture, shoulders, back and pelvis position.

  • Prevent injuries, & protect the back.

  • Develop whole body strength and tone.

  • Gain greater body and breath awareness.

  • Teach the body to activate the right muscles when engaging in sports or other physical activities.

Pilates sessions are different each week, to help encourage clients to focus on the technique, our body and our breath; so we stay mindfully connected. Regular Pilates is when you start to feel the real changes. Typically clients come for 1- 3 sessions a week. Classes may be mat only or include equipment: a ball, weights, roller, therabands.

About CoreBalance Pilates

I have a Physical Education and Health degree and over 20 years experience in teaching and coaching. The transition to teaching Pilates over 10 years ago made total sense & I became certified in Stability Plus Pilates. I have always had a vested interest in helping motivate people to keep active and lead a healthy, balanced, fulfilled life .  Pilates helps to create mind, breath and body connections and it has given me the strength I needed to keep doing all that I love. Pilates is about building connections to function and move better and keep you doing what you love with less chance of injury and greater body awareness. In Pilates, we connect the body and mind to become more aware of our posture, core, and how we move; creating a well-balanced body that fires the right muscles when needed and relaxes others - yes we need to be able to do both!

Pilates in a nutshell.......Picture your brain as your house and your body as your playground with weaving running tracks. These tracks are the connections between our brain and our muscles. Over time, we may unconsciously take shortcuts and miss specific paths. When paths are unused, they become 'overgrown' and the connections between our brain and those muscles can weaken, while others take over and get overused. Pilates clears our tracks and reconnects us. We learn to feel our body, connect mindfully, challenge ourselves & hold ourselves strong with good postural alignment to function optimally in all we do.

Personally, I love the outdoors, skiing, running, loved playing sports, amongst other activities. I enjoy being active and being able to be active. But, my body wasn't keeping up and I didn't see giving up on things I enjoyed an option. Sure enough, ongoing niggles and injuries kept coming. I always pushed through. My mind wanted to keep going, but my body was telling me otherwise & I ignored some of these signs! Fortunately, I find the body and how it functions fascinating and from my university studies, Pilates made sense. I have less back, neck & knee pain, better posture and shoulder position, and better internal core strength - those deep muscles matter! I am more stable, my glutes fire, my knee pain has subsided. I have gained greater body, breath and mind awareness.  I could go on! One wish is that I learnt this earlier!

As humans, it often takes an injury or an illness for us to react, rather than being proactive and gaining awareness and skills before this!  If you love your sport & keeping active, tune into your body now, rather than at the bottom of that cliff! I'm still doing what I love and what's great, is I'm able to help others stay active, feel stronger & more balanced.

Our bodies are designed to move and move well! Your body and your mind and all its internal workings are the one home you will have for your whole life. Let's nourish this!
