Functional Breathing to feel better day to day and in your sport

About CoreBalance Functional Breathing Education

We breathe over 18,000 breaths a day. We have a tool within us to help us navigate through life, but approximately 80% of us aren't tapping into its power and breathing well. Learn how good you can feel through your breath.

HOW ARE YOU BREATHING?

-Do you wake up in the night and wake up in the morning with a dry mouth?

-Do you feel anxious, stressed, or panicky?

-Do you feel stuck in your head or unable to find head space?

-Do you feel breathless at rest?

-Do you feel tired often?

-Do you find you fatigue quickly when exercising?

-Do you feel tight in your abdomen, bloated or suffer discomfort?

-Do you suffer from lower back pain or sensitive to pain in your body?

-Do you know that taking a BIG breath is actually NOT what our body needs?

HOW FUNCTIONAL BREATHING CAN HELP YOU:

-Balance your nervous system to react when you need to, but come off that wheel as well.

•Calm the mind, cope with stress, relieve anxious feelings, and curb panic & depression.

•Cope with pain better, pre-menstrual tension, injuries, and sickness.

•Improve concentration, focus, and memory for work, school, and sports.

•Develop greater awareness, less brain fog and greater oxygenation to our brain, cells, muscles, and tissues.

•Improve the quality of sleep to function better throughout the day.

•Improve Heart Rate Variability – to create a well-balanced and better-functioning nervous system.

•Regulate blood pressure.

•Improve back pain, pelvic floor stability and diaphragm function.

•Help improve sports performance; with better O2 distribution to the muscles and brain, less fatigue, and less inflammation. Improve exercise-induced asthma & breathlessness.

•Improve our immune system; nasal breathing acts as a natural defence mechanism against viruses and bacteria. It increases Nitrate Oxygen to help dilate our airways.

•Help with nervousness with public speaking, performance, and presentations.

•Improve organ function.

•Improve our gut health, less bloating or pain

With an interest in functional breathing for over 15 years, I've attended a Buteyko Course, had sessions with Breathing Works and then became a certified Oxygen Advantage Advanced Instructor under Patrick McKeown.  My own practice has taken me on a road of discovery and learning & I hope to help others make positive physiological and psychological changes through better breathing. Functional breathing can be instrumental in improving our quality of life, performance & how we as humans navigate this fast-paced, rollercoaster world we live in!

FIND CALM:

Throughout my life, I have delved into mindfulness, meditation and many other relaxation techniques. I was born into a family who practised meditation.  When we are in over-drive, it can be a challenge to get off that spinning wheel and even imagine sitting still, meditating, and clearing our minds. We often try to work things out through thinking. Our mind is great for problem solving, but not when we're in a fight/flight state, as our thoughts will often mirror this state, compounding it. Breathing can be a way through. It can be a portal into our nervous system. Fast, shallow, mouth breathing, can signal a threat.  Slowing our breathing down and breathing diaphragmatically calms our system. We can balance our autonomic nervous system through how we breathe. The beauty of our breath is it's involuntary and voluntary. We are born doing it and it's with us until we die. But, we can also tap into this tool when we need to.

Simple breathing exercises and breath awareness can help make the physiological changes we need to create a more balanced autonomic nervous system & the science backs this up! We can use our sympathetic drive to our advantage, rather than feeling overwhelmed & can tap into our parasympathetic nervous system to find a calm headspace.

 DEVELOP INTERNAL STRENGTH:

Having battled with gut inflammation for many years, functional breathing can play an important part in reducing inflammation and improving our digestion. Our diaphragm is our main respiratory muscle but also surrounds our organs. It helps regulate our heart, and our blood pressure; and its movement, with our pelvic floor, helps to strengthen our core and our back. We need it to work well to support us both physically and emotionally. When it's strong, our diaphragm helps create stability when we inhale. Then on the longer exhale, if we are truly able to relax our diaphragm, it taps into our parasympathetic nervous system & stimulates our vagus nerve to help calm our system down.  It is overlooked in sport and exercise too. When it's working well, we breathe more efficiently, we are more stable and our pelvis and spine sit in a better position.

IMPROVE SPORTS PERFORMANCE:

Athletes are super fit, but have they got respiratory fitness? They often have such determination that they keep pushing through breathlessness, muscle fatigue and inflammation, this can put unnecessary pressure on their heart and other organs too. Training their respiratory system can help them feel better before - to help with anxiety and focus,

during - less breathlessness and after, for better recovery.

JUST DO IT:

We all like to feel calm, focused, perform well and with a clear head! We are bombarded with information on how we can do this. Through books, podcasts, posts, and articles; we may intellectually understand what can help us, but are we FEELING it or just THINKING about it? Knowledge is at our fingertips, but it's the practice that really makes the difference and sometimes we just need a helping hand through that.

CoreBalance Breathing Education provides the knowledge but more importantly provides proven Oxygen Advantage exercises, to help make the physiological and psychological changes.

When clients start a guided and supported journey to breathe better, they truly start to live & feel better. It’s making a decision to go for it and find out for yourself.
